I have truly never cared too much for Kid Rock. I like the song "Picture" he sings with Sheryl Crow but that is the extent of the music I have ever listened to of his. A few weeks ago I saw him being interviewed by Piers Morgan. It was spectacular. I was so impressed with the guy. He is a good old American patriot, try to be honest, stand up guy. He said a few things that I very much adore.
He said about the plane ride home after visiting the troops in Iraq and Afganistan, "There is something about coming home on a plane with human remains in a casket that is draped with an American flag that changes you." I got tears in my eyes.
He also said one of the days he remembers most about his career was one day walking his son to school and then picking him up. They came home and turned on MTV. They were looking to see where his CD was on the chart. I believe it had rising to number 10 and he looked at his son and said, "Look buddy I'm going to be able to buy us a new house soon." I thought that was so great. One of the best moments of his career was with his son.
He doesn't sell his music on iTunes because he doesn't want someone else telling him what to do, which I can also appreciate, so I went out to the store and bought his new CD born free. Congrats to you, and here's to living the American Dream.
