Jackson Hole

The annual Jackson Hole 4th of July trip was last weekend. It is one of my favorite trips of the year. Trish, Bri, Zane and I went up this year. We left Friday night and got there at about 1:30 in the morning. Thankfully Lex stayed up and waited for us and helped us set up our tent. Saturday we ate breakfast and headed for the river! We had 4 rafts this year so about 30 people on the river. Tricia rode "bull" the entire way. It was awesome! She got knocked off a couple of times but was a good sport. Lex, Bri, Zane and Becca did some cliff jumping. I have committed myself to jumping next year. I am already starting to prepare myself mentally. We left on Sunday and came home through Bear Lake so that I could have a raspberry shake. The summer just isn't a summer without a Bear Lake raspberry shake.

Don't Mess with Texas

I went to Austin Texas this weekend to help Monica with Milo and Holly. When I stepped off the plane there were souvenirs everywhere that said Keep Austin Weird. I felt like that was weird. Who says that about their city and then makes thousands of gifts and stuff with that printed on there? It was weird! Flying with Milo and Holly was really fun. It went really well. They both actually end up falling asleep and the flight attendants were great. We went to eat at Joe's Crab Shack which I love although I don't eat Crab. Kind of embarrassing I know. I am going to learn to eat Crab really soon. It is a goal of mine. Milo watched a lot of movies and would dance around. He is so funny. Holly just sleeps most of the time and can sometimes get a little cranky

We went to church on Sunday and then just hung out. Monday Monica and I went to find some places around town. Mostly just the Target which we found on our first try. While we were inside Target it started pouring rain. I'll be honest. I haven't seen rain come down that hard since I lived in the Amazon Basin in Brazil. It was absolutely impossible not to get yet. It brought back a lot of memories. So the gang is all settled in Texas for the next couple of weeks. It will be nice when they all come home again.

Yeller..stone National Park

The Family spent last week in Yellowstone. It's kind of a scary thought to think of all of us together like that for so long. Neither one of my brother in laws were able to go. Colette and Monica and I were bachelorettes together. Colette and I shared a room and I felt like I was at girls camp again staying up talking late at night. It was fun fun fun.

Turns out my camera broke while we were there so I don't have any pictures. I know Colette took lots of pictures I'm sure she will post some real ones on her blog sometime or maybe not who knows.

My top ten list for the vacation

1. Mom bringing a 2 year supply of food for 4 days (we all carried a little extra weight out with us on our hips)

2. The endless fresh fudge search for Alysha's cravings (we got some finally thanks to Kim finding the candy store)

3. Driving in the ECHO with Colette jammin to Dancin' Queen, YMCA and Funky Town (I'm still dancing while I type)

4. The massive traffic jam caused by a Bald Eagle. Um.. we actually see those in Morgan all the time by the river it was funny they were causing such a commotion.

5. We couldn't find a picnic site to have lunch so we all blopped down in the Old Faithful Parking and had lunch. You should have seen the look on the Motorhome owners ace when he walked passed and there were 20 something of us sitting there eating it was hilarious.

6. Milo got a bug bite on his shoulder. His mom asked when he got it and he said he got it when he pooped. It was so funny. He thought the bite was from using the bathroom.

7. The hike at Mammoth Springs. At one point I was pulling Ethan, AJ and Gracie by the straps of my Camel Back... it was a good little work out. I loved it!

8. We got sprayed by a gyser when we did the Old Faithful trail loop. I expected the water to be boiling hot but Esteban and Easton said it was cold. I ran pass it before the water hit.

9. Jared smelling the laundry detergent and sniffing it up his nose. I have never seen a little boy so surprised in all of my life. He wouldn't stop sneezing and his poor eyes kept watering. It was so sad but funny!! Alysha and I couldn't stop laughting. She had to leave the room so she didn't wake up the kids.

10. Everyone..(okay not everyone) getting sick on the last day. The day we were coming home. Let's just say we had to pull off to the side of the road more then once to let someone puck. It was sick. Ooohh! but a good memory

True Colors Shinin' Through

You all know that I love Cindy Lauper. I have seen her every time she has come to Utah in the past ten years. I was a senior in high school when I went to her first concert. She was on tour with Tina Turner, another one of my all time favorites. Then I saw her again with Cher a couple of years later. Last week she came with Blondie and Erasure, the venue, Usana Amphitheatre. Melissa got us tickets and it was so fun. There were quite a few interesting people to watch there as a we all know a Cindy Lauper crowd always produces. It was real good times. I was glad I was able to go.

Chalk Art Festival

The Gateway Mall held the 5th annual Chalk Art Festival for the Utah Foster Care Foundation. It started on Friday and by Saturday afternoon the artist's have to be completed with their artwork. It is fascinating to watch. The detail and color they are able to create just by using chalk is amazing to me. Sometimes I wish I could be so talented. I took pictures of some of my favorite creations.

Twilight

I found another book that I am obsessed with, Twilight. Krista suggested it to me when I told her that I was trying to force myself to become a better reader. It is one of the most creative, suspenseful, descriptive, dangerous, romantic, books I have ever read. Plus, it's a book about Vampires. Who would have thought I would love a book about Vampires? I was hooked from the moment I started. I read it in a couple of days and went straight to the book store when I finished it to by the second book in the series New Moon. I definitely recommend Twilight to everyone as an exciting and fun summer read.

Churrasco... (aka: Barbecue)

I had a Brazilian barbecue at my house last week for my friend Everton who is from Brazil. He is leaving at the end of the summer to play soccer for the University of Hawaii. I promised him that we could have a barbecue and eat Brazilian food before he left. The menu consisted of arroz e feijao (rice and beans), farofa (yummy yellow stuff), pao de queijo (cheese bread), carne e frango assada (grilled beef and chicken), vingarette (tomatoe and onion salad), and Guarana (Brazilian soda). It was so so yummy! It had been way to long since I have had the taste of Brazil in my mouth.

Timpanogos Cave

A couple of weeks ago I hiked to Timpanogos Cave with my old roommates Becky and Elise, their new roommate Heather and their friend Nathan. We had a really good time. I haven't been up to Timpanogos for so long. I forgot what a good view you get of the south Salt Lake Valley. The cave was really fun as well. I did get in trouble by the 14 year old volunteer because my backpack touched the wall. Yikes.... I didn't mean to touch anything. I wouldn't want to mess up the stalagtites and stalagmites. Let's be serious. Here's some pictures of our day.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Friday was a Bees night. Trish, Dudu, Casey, Jared, Mindy and I went to the Bees Baseball game before we went to see Ocean's 13 later that night. It was a little cold because of the rainy weather we experienced here last week. But, it was still a lot of fun. My favorite part of the game...the Chicago Style Hot Dogs. Yum!! (I don't even like hotdogs.) Life really doesn't get better then that.

Office Space

What does office space truly mean? Is a corner office with a window truly better then an office in the boiler room of the White House? Who decides what office space gives you prestige and power and which office space doesn't? Does the movie Office Space (which I have never seen) explain the status associated with your office space? I don't know. This is my new office space. It is in the basement with a baby sized window and I, along with some friends, put the desks together ourselves. What does that say about my office space? However, it's clean, new, and about 5 feet from my bedroom so how can I complain? I love it!!
